Lady Theodosia Cadogan was the wife of Sir Alexander Cadogan, son of the fifth Earl Cadogan. Known better by her maiden name, Theodosia Acheson, she was also painted by John Singer Sargent in a portrait with her sisters, The Ladies Alexandra, Mary and Theo Acheson of 1902, which is presently in the Devonshire Collection, Chatsworth. The oil portrait was likely commissioned by the sisters' grandmother, then Dutchess of Devonshire.

This charcoal drawing has been reviewed and accepted by the John Singer Sargent Catalogue Raisonné Committee.
