Emerson Fittipaldi
World Champion driver in 1972 and 1974. Winner of the Indianapolis 500. Indycar Champion.

Winner of fourteen Grands Prix. Team Lotus driver in 1970, '71, '72, and '73. Emerson who had graduated through Formula Ford and Lotus Formula Three was invited to drive a third Lotus Formula One car in the 1970 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, where he finished eighth; his debut in a catagory that would see him crowned World Champion for Lotus in 1972 and for Mclaren in 1974. During the tragic Monza weekend when Jochen Rindt had his fatal accident, Peter Warr signed Emerson for the 1971 season in a hotel room on a hand written agreement for a retainer of 30,000. This season was interupted by a serious road accident, but in 1972 with the brand new 'John Player Special' colours, he became the youngest ever world champion.
The helmet worn by Emerson during 1972 was already comitted to a sponsor, so when reminded some years later of his agreement to donate a helmet, he released one of the highly stylised AGV helmets worn when driving Copersucar cars built by his own Brazilian team.
