This present lot is one of the early generation solar domed clocks to feature a chronometer standard quartz movement Calibre 33 with photo-electric cell. Also of particular note is the dial, featuring a chapter ring with Roman numerals interspersed with Calatrava symbols and complemented with heavy dauphine hands. This extremely desirable 'Travestis' operatic scene is one of music, dancing and celebration - harlequins carouse, musicians strum on guitars and masked ladies frolic. Signed with the initials 'MFM' for Marie Françoise Martin, one of Patek Philippe's feted enamel artists, the palette, as can be expected of Patek Philippe, is rich, vibrant and offers a glossy translucency. With a background of distinctive royal blue, the subjects are depicted with a myriad of colours, each different glass compound contained within wire cells (cloisons). To our knowledge, this is the first time that this present lot is appearing on the market.
