Vintage note: An abundant year, 1950 is often overshadowed by the triumvirate of 1945, 1947 and 1949. The wines of 1950 have a much suppler, gentler nature, but are not to be despised at all. The year saw a fair bit of rain during the summer, and the year was written off by some because of it. The Right Bank is sometimes preferred to the left, but those who follow this received wisdom will be unwittingly miss some of the loveliest wines of this period. The vintage has held very well.
