Jules Jurgensen, head of a watchmaking dynasty, started a watchmaking business in 1780 with Isaac Larpent in Denmark under the name "Larpent & Jrgensen. Subsequently, his youngest son Frederik took over, changing the name to "Frederik Jrgensen. His eldest son Urban Jrgensen followed him into the trade but started his own company Urban Jrgensen. The Royal Danish government enlisted Urban to revitalize the production of Danish marine chronometers. Upon his death Urban's son Jules emigrated to Switzerland to start Jules Jrgensen in 1836, which was then taken over by his eldest son Louis, who brought the business backc to Denmark under the name Urban Jrgensens Snner, a company still in existence today.
