Each decorated overall on both sides with an elaborate sequence of scenes of palace life, hunting animals and campaigning, on one side with an upper border of panels depicting the 'Hundred Antiques' and a lower border of foliate panels, the other side with an upper border of panels of figures in consultation and a lower border of mythical beasts, the sides with conforming scenes, restorations, the hinges replaced

One of the figures depicted can be identified as Zhu Geliang (181-234), the famous chancellor for Shu Han under the Three Kingdoms period (220-265). One of the attendants standing behind him holds a banner reading 'Han cheng xiang Wu Xiang Qiao', which is the title that Zhu Geliang held when he served the Han court. As one of the most well-known figures in Chinese history, Zhu Geliang is revered for his vision and intelligence as a statesman, who provided many brilliant military strategies that enabled the court to win numerous difficult battles.
