A deeply earthy and very animale nose that is just beginning to display some secondary nuance on the densely fruited nose that continues onto the developing but not quite ready flavors that possess excellent concentration and much better phenolic ripeness than many '95s, all wrapped in a powerful, delicious and still firm and long finish. This is one of those wines that is still on its way up yet far enough along that one can easily begin to see how good it will finally be when it arrives at its majority. In sum, the '95 Ech is not one of Hanky J's very best efforts but it's still a first class pleasure to drink. For my taste, it could use another 4 to 5 years in the cellar first. BH, Dec 24, 2006
