With two lamas seated facing each other at center, their hands in dharmachakramudra and clad in heavy robes, surrounded by four mandalas with deities at center, including clockwise from the top left, Rakta Varahi, Nila Varahi, Humkara, and Pita Varahi, with the Buddhist lineage in the register at top

The Vajravali is a compendium of the most important tantric mandalas, meditations and initiations that were written down by Acharya Abhayakaragupta in the 11th century. The present and following paintings come from the same set of paintings of the Vajravali, of which a third painting is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (Acc. No. IS.167-1964).
