A BRITISH OFFICER'S SWORD OF 1786 PATTERN
LATE 18TH CENTURY
With tapering double-edged blade with faint 'ANDRIA' and 'FARARA' inscription respectively on each side at the forte, cast and chased brass hilt with symmetrical shell-guards and urn-shaped pommel, each element decorated in relief with foliage, and wire-bound grip; together with AN INFANTRY HANGER, 18TH CENTURY, with slightly curved fullered single-edged blade double-edged at the point and incised on each side with a running wolf mark, iron hilt comprising large symmetrical side-rings each filled with a pierced plate, thumb-ring, short rear-quillon, rounded bars, globular pommel incised with the issue number 'L.66', and cast swelling brass grip incised with lines (some corrosion marking to iron parts, cutting edge of blade chipped)
