With double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section struck with some marks on each side at the forte (tip reprofiled), iron half-basket hilt of rounded bars, asymmetrical shell guards each filled with a pierced iron plate, short downturned rear quillon, the principle bars of the basket decorated with double knops, grip bound with brass wire, and globular pommel; together with A COMPOSITE ITALIAN RAPIER, POSSIBLY 18TH CENTURY, with slender blade, iron hilt including foliate engraved guard, long slender quillons, compressed cushion-shaped pommel, and wire-bound grip (some repairs throughout)
