In the 1960s, Louay Kayyali moved from Aleppo to Damascus where he quickly built a name for himself within the Syrian upper class society. The present work depicts a bedouin lady with her typical coin earrings and headband. Dedicated on his birthday to the present owner's father who was the artist's cousin, the small portrait of the Syrian woman is a delicate and intimate example of the artist's will to empoyer the woman and depict all social clans.
