The figure on the first plaque depicts Zuo Ci, a legendary Taoist personage of the late Han dynasty and Three Kingdoms period, the inscription describes him as being able to 'soar above the clouds and reach all corners of the world; invisible to everyone and traveling alone.' The figure on the second plaque depicts Sun Ce, a military general and warlord of the late Han dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period, and the inscription refers to him as 'an unprecedented and unrivalled hero, a dragon disguised as a fish trapped in a shallow pond.'
