Please note that the sitter of this picture is The Honourable Mrs Charles Russell, née Adah Williams (1868-1959) circa 1900. She was the second wife of Charles Arthur Russell, 1st Baron Russell of Killowen (1832-1900) who was Lord Chief Justice and of Anglo-Irish descent. She was also painted by Sargent in 1900.
This painting was sold at Christie's London, 3 December 1985, lot 187. It is no. 168 in the catalogue raisonné.

The second wife of Charles Arthur Russell, 1st Baron Russell of Killowen (1832-1900), Lord Chief Justice, Adah Russell was also painted by John Singer Sargent in 1900, and this portrait probably dates from the same period.
