Il est représenté assis en vajrasana sur une base lotiforme. Sa main droite tient le mirobolan, la gauche le bol à aumônes. Il est vêtu d'une robe monastique rehaussée d'un galon incisé de rinceaux fleuris. Le visage doré à froid est méditatif, les yeux et la bouche sont peints. Les cheveux et l'ushnisha sont bouclés ; scellée.

Inherited by the actual owner from his French grandfather, Mr. Roger Meffreys (1899-1976). He served for 20 years in the French diplomatic service and was posted in China in 1936. First he was General Consul in Shanghai and thereafter, Ambassador for France in Beijing until 1946.
During his spare time he collected Chinese art.

This is a very fine example of the craftmanship and elegance of bronzes from the workshop originally founded by Zanabazar (1635-1723). He was a religious leader, artist, and master craftsman, produced some of the finest bronzes in the history of Mongolian art. Characterized by richly gilt surfaces overall, finely modelled and smoothly sloping contours with embellishments limited to borders. The full figures are standing or seated on a raised double-lotus base and an un-gilt base sealed with a gilt double-vajra. A minimalist aesthetic casting that endows the figures with a sense of stability, Zanabazar bronze sculptures and examples stemming from his school witness to the vision of the great leader.
