This dish was probably acquired in 1727 by Frederick Augustus I (1670-1733), Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, known as Augustus the Strong. A similar dish was given by Queen Victoria to the Victoria and Albert Museum on the occasion of its opening in 1862.
