THE TEA CANNISTERS AND PLAQUE CIRCA 1720-1760, THE SUGAR CASTERS 19TH CENTURY, IRON-RED PAK MARK FOR PIETER ADRIAENSZ KOCX TO FIRST TEA CANNISTER, IRON-RED AR MARK FOR ADRIAEN VAN RIJSSELBERGH TO SECOND, BLUE D/18 MARKS TO SUGAR CASTERS
The first tea cannister painted on each side in Kakiemon style with flowering plants issuing from rockwork below a border of flowering plants and scrolling leaves; the second painted in Imari style with flowering plants in a fenced garden, and on each short side with a bird perched on a hoop; the cylindrical sugar casters each painted with an Oriental boy in garden below a yellow line and border of foliate sprigs; the wall plaque of cartouche form, the centre painted in blue with a bird perched on a chinoiserie flowering branch, another bird and insects in flight above, the rococo scroll-moulded frame heightened in iron-red, yellow, green and manganese, pierced for suspension, some chipping, restoration and losses
The first tea cannister 5 1/8 in. (13 cm.) high; the plaque 11¼ in. (28.5 cm) wide (5)
