A WHITE JADE HAIRPIN
18TH CENTURY
The tapered hairpin is delicately carved with a scholar beneath a tree. There is a poetic inscription below, reading gui zi yue zhong luo, tian xiang yun wai piao which may be translated as 'osmanthus falling in the moonlight, the fragrance wafting beyond the clouds'.
