With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with in 1966 and its subsequent sale on 23 February 1967.

The present reference 1463 is now offered for the first time at auction and is part of the very last generation of this iconic model. It boasts the typical 1960's dial design featuring the correct facetted baton numerals as well as a tachymetre scale - without the additional chemin-de-fer inner circle for the 5th of a seconds track. It is further highlighted by the distinguished retailer's signature Trucchi, one of Patek Philippe's oldest retailers in Italy, based in Napoli.

The silvered dial has not been touched or restored, featuring wonderfully crisp and raised hard-enamel signature and outer scale. As one would expect, the retailer's signature is printed on the surface. The case is in excellent condition with strong definition and no obvious signs of polishing. The hallmark, as with all references 1463 of this period, is located in between the lower lugs.

All of the above ingredients render this "tasti tondi" (in Italian for round pushers) a superb collector's watch which not only represents excellent value for a discerning collector, but also enormous satisfaction on one's wrist.

Since its launch in 1940, the desirability of the legendary reference 1463 has never ceased. Destined for a clientele in quest of an elegant yet sporty wristwatch, Patek Philippe's first chronograph model fitted with a water-resistant-type case and round chronograph buttons is as popular today as it was at the time of its introduction.

Reference 1463 was launched in 1940 and remained in production until 1965. The majority was cased in yellow gold, some were cased in steel; examples in pink gold are rarest and were often reserved for the South American market.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 267.
