The present lot relates to the picture by Reynolds sold at Sotheby's, 14 July 1999, lot 115, of which Mannings lists three known copies (see D. Mannings, Sir Joshua Reynolds. A Complete Catalogue of his Paintings, New Haven and London, 2000, p. 266, no. 945).
