Decorated overall with river landscape scenes, the canted angles with gilt-scrolling foliage, the interior fitted with a mirror and a blue and white Chinese cup and saucer and three associated French blue and white earthware containers; together with a Chinese lacquer sewing-box, probably first half 19th century, and a Japanese lacquer cased hand-mirror cast with cranes in a river landscape, Meiji period (late 19th/early 20th century)
The Chinese box: 6 ¼ in. (16 cm.) high; 10 ¾ in. (27.5 cm.) wide; 7 in. (18 cm.) deep
The sewing-box: 6 ½ in. (16.5 cm.) high; 14 ¾ in. (37.5 cm.) wide; 8 ½ in. (21.5 cm.) deep
