According to the Archives of Omega, this watch was produced under the license "Lemania Watch Orient", subsidiary of Omega, and sent to Venezuela on 14 November 1958.

This "Broad Arrow" is one of the exceedingly rare examples of the first generation "Speedmaster Broad Arrow" ref. 2915-3 to be offered in public. Preserved in very good, original condition it is still retaining the original hands, bezel, micro-size Omega logo crystal and the original Omega stainless steel semi-extendable bracelet. The watch furthermore stands out by the very attractive dial, the black colour aleady displaying a subtle tone of dark chocolate brown, beautifully harmonizing with the uniformly discoloured luminous material to numerals and hands. The case has not been subject to overpolishing, most evidently shown by the crisp engraving of the Speedmaster logo and inscription to the case back.

Following the launch of the legendary Broad Arrow Speedmaster in 1957, Omega released its second generation reference 2915-2. It differed from the first by the alpha hands and the black aluminum bezel. In parallel, Omega decided to bring out a sister version of the First Generation Broad Arrow, with Reference 2915-3.

For a note on the "Speedmaster" and an example of the first generation reference 2915-1 see lot 273 in this sale.

The "Speedmaster Broad Arrow" is described and illustrated in Marco Richon's Omega - A Journey Through Time, pp. 596 - 597, Omega Saga, pp. 372 - 374 as well as in Omega Sportswatches by John Goldberger, pp. 95 - 107, where it is in addition prominently featured on the cover.
