Judson's attribution to Ketel in his 1963 article (op. cit.) was made on the basis of stylistic similarities between the present drawing and the Costume study of a seated woman which appears on the verso of Ketel's drawing The Mirror of Virtue in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (K.G. Boon, Catalogue of the Dutch and Flemish Drawings in the Rijksmuseum: Netherlandish Drawings of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries, The Hague, 1978, no. 328).
