See Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan, Munich, 1966, pl. 226 and p. 176 for examples of both models in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich; no. 933 (for the pair) is described by the author as an Austrian fusilier and 932 (the single figure) as an Austrian underofficer. See also Len and Yvonne Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures, London, 1987, p. 41 for a set of eight soldiers belonging to the same group, including the same models as those in the present lot.
