This fauteuil de bureau is based on the famous example executed by Jacob-Desmalter et Cie, circa 1805; the mounts by Pierre-Philippe Thomire, and supplied to Jerôme Bonaparte, King of Westphalia, and brother of Napoleon. This chair passed into the collection of Princess Mathilde Bonaparte until sold from the collection of the Comte Philippe de La Rochefoucauld, Parke-Bernet Galleries, New York, 19 May 1951, lot 160.
