2 works in one volume as issued, 8º (153 x 102mm). 8 woodcut diagrams of distilling apparatus, woodcut initials, Pederzano’s device on verso of final leaf. (Title with large area of repair touching on several letters, occasional light marginal soiling.) Later cartone alla rustica (recased with new pastedowns, spine repaired).
Second edition to be edited by the Strasburg physician Walter Hermann Ryff. Ferguson notes that the books on chemistry which pass under Lull’s name ‘are considered to be not by him, and the transmutations said to have been effected by him are also considered unauthentic.’ However, no doubt is attached to the tract by Albertus Magnus which occupies more than half the book. Adams L-1704; Caillet II, 6858; Duveen p.369: ‘well produced by Peter Schoeffer’s youngest son’; Ferguson II, p.54; not in BL/STC.
