Examples of the Cock and Jewel and the Vain Jackdaw candlesticks are in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (accession numbers C.83-1932 and C.84-1932). Both designs were taken from Francis Barlow's publication of Aesop's Fables of either 1665 or 1687. The model for the Cock and the Jewel was adapted from engravings for Fable I, 'Du Coq et de la Pierre brillanté' and Fable 47, 'The Jay and the Peacock'.
