We are grateful to David Mackie, St. Catharine's College, University of Cambridge, for confirming the attribution on the basis of a photograph, dating the work (Mackie no. 79) to circa 1813. It is included in his forthcoming publication Complete Catalogue of Raeburn. Dr. Mackie further suggests that this version is primary to the portrait in the Harvard Art Museums.
