The face of the devotee is sensitively drawn with large lotus-shaped eyes, the hair bound into a topknot and secured with golden jewelry. Highlighted with limited color, this fluidly and boldly executed drawing displays all the traits of the hand of Sahib Ram; compare with closely related works at the Metropolitan Museum and in the Paul F. Walter Collection, illustrated by P. Pal and C. Glynn, The Sensuous Line, Los Angeles, 1976, p. 22, cat. no. 14.
