“Il quadro specchiante è un’opera fenomenologica e come tale non raccoglie le istanze mie personali, non è informata dai miei sentimenti, dalle mie emozioni o ragioni, ma ci informa essa stessa sui fenomeni del mondo, del loro accadere e dei loro processi. Nel mio lavoro la fenomenologia consiste nel porre assieme componenti che vengono considerate normalmente opposte: staticità e dinamica, unicità e molteplicità, passato e futuro, presente e assenza. La fotografia è sempre passato in quanto memoria di un momento già vissuto, mentre l’immagine specchiata è il presente: non esisteva prima e non esisterà dopo. Nel quadro specchiante passato e presente si congiungono e insieme accolgono il futuro e procedono in esso”.

In my work, phenomenology consists in combining concepts that are normally considered as opposites: static and dynamic, uniqueness and multiplicity, past and future, present and absence. While photography remains an element of the past in that it exists as the memory of a moment that has already been lived, the mirror image is the present: it did not exist before and will not exist later. In a mirror picture, past and present join and together welcome the future, and proceed into it “.
