Cushion shaped with gadrooned border and detachable branch ring handle, engraved on covers with a coat-of-arms and a crest, marked on bodies, covers and handle

The arms are those of Wood quartering Clopton, Hilton, Bridger, Williams of Elham, Williams of Gwernyfed, Le Heup and others, impaling Stewart, for Colonel Thomas Wood (1771-1860) M.P. of Littleton Park, Staines and Gwernyfed Park, co. Brecon, and his first wife, Lady Caroline Stewart (d.1865), daughter of Robert, 1st Marquess of Londonderry, whom he married in 1801.

Wood was Colonel of the Royal East Middlesex Militia and A.D.C. to Queen Victoria. Educated at Harrow and Oriel College Oxford, he served as M.P. for Breconshire from 1806 until 1847.
