« La première exposition permanente d’œuvres d’art du Vanuatu au musée des Arts Africains et Océaniens à Paris répondait aux aspirations de nombreux artistes exprimées depuis le début de ce siècle, comme Max Ernst et Alberto Giacometti, et au désir d’hommes à l’esprit clairvoyant comme André Malraux. […] Les nombreuses œuvres artistiques originaires du Vanuatu témoignent d’une créativité extraordinaire, même au regard de la foisonnante diversité des autres pays de la Mélanésie. »
