The tughra found on the present lot denotes that it was created during the reign of Ottoman Sultan 'Abd al-'Aziz (1830 - 1876), who was the 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 25 June 1861 up until 30 May 1876 when he was overthrown in a government coup.
