A partir de 1970 le duo de céramistes « Les 2 potiers » que Michelle formait avec Jacques Serre n’existe plus. Michelle Bargoin retrouve son individualité, elle signe désormais ses œuvres d’un ‘M’ et modifie l’orthographe de son prénom : Michelle devient Michell.
Forte de la découverte d’une terre qui lui permet de réaliser des œuvres de grandes dimensions, Michell crée ce qui l’a toujours attirée : des œuvres monumentales. Elle poursuit ses recherches autour de la terre et de la lave émaillée et met au point une métallisation de la terre cuite par projection de métal : tantôt bronze, tantôt zinc en fusion ; le revêtement de métal généreusement poli illumine la terre.
Par ce défis technique Michell donne une identité visuelle à sa production dont la sculpture présentée ici est un brillant témoignage. Michell Bargoin réalisera différentes commandes privées et publiques à Clermont-Ferrand, comme l’Equilibre, sculpture double réalisée vers 1978 dans des dimensions architecturales qui vient orner le campus universitaire de Cézeaux.
The duo of ceramists, “Les 2 Potiers,” that Michelle formed in 1970 with Jacques Serre no longer exists. Having decided to showcase her individuality, Michelle Bargoin signed her works with an 'M' and changed the spelling of her first name: Michelle became Michell.
Strengthened by the discovery of a clay that allowed her to create large-scale works, Michell focused on what had always attracted her: monumental pieces. She continued her research into clay and enamelled lava and developed a metallization of the clay by projecting metal: sometimes bronze, sometimes molten zinc; the generously polished metal coating thus illuminating the clay.
Through this technical challenge, Michell provides a visual identity to her production of which the sculpture presented here is a brilliant testimony. Michell Bargoin carried out various private and public commissions in Clermont-Ferrand, such as Equilibre, a double sculpture realized circa 1978 in architectural dimensions which decorates the University campus of Cézeaux in her native Auvergne region.
