A CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN ROULEAU VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The vase is decorated with a continuous scene featuring a figure of Zhong Kui with gilt accents, shown seated and drinking on a daybed as bats fly above. On his left sits a finely dressed maiden sewing and on the left a young boy plays with a demon, all below a border of lotus cartouches reserved on a diaper ground. The cylindrical neck is decorated with bamboo amongst rocks. The vase also features two square leisure seals, one on the neck and one on the body, reading ting shan (pavilion and mountain) and zhu ju (the hall of bamboo).
