BENOIST GÉRARD (1684-1758)
Benoist II Gérard and his son, Jean-Benoist, collaborated under the same signature from 1743 until the former's death in 1758. By 1748 they were located on the rue Dauphine and in 1752 they moved to the quai Conti.

The drum-shaped foliate-wrapped case set within a bocage, centred by a youth with flowers riding a rearing horse on a rocaille base, the white enamel dial with Arabic minutes, Roman hours and pierced gilt-metal hands and signed 'Benoist Gerard / A Paris', the twin-barrel movement with numbered countwheel to bell, later platform lever escapement, signed 'Benoist Gerard A Paris'
