Larry Pristo notes in Martelé Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, 2002, p. 205, that chamber candlestick 3206 required 29 hours to create and was finished on 6 December 1899. The chasing took another 42 hours and was completed by Henry B. Stehr. Pristo also notes that the net factory price was $76, and that it was exhibited at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. Recent sales of works from the Martelé line shown by Gorham at the Exposition Universelle in these rooms include a silver-mounted glass claret jug, sold 22 January 2021 lot 241, a pair of silver vases, sold 24 January 2020, lot 386, and a single silver vase, sold 18 January 2019, lot 838.
