In the 18th Century the drawing was in the important collection of the Venetian nobleman Zaccaria Sagredo. The sheet was once mounted in an album assembled by Sagredo, as a clipping of the album page - with the Sagredo numbering and initials ‘S.V. no. 32’ referring to Scuola Veneziana - is currently attached to the drawing’s mount (see K. Gottardo, ‘Zaccaria Sagredo’, in L. Borean and S. Mason, Il collezionismo d’arte a Venezia. Il Settecento, Venice, 2009, p. 298).
