Not necessarily renowned for its size, this waterfall in Yoshino is famous for its association with Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Yoshitsune, celebrated for his brilliant battle strategies, played a crucial role in securing victories for the Minamoto clan alongside his elder brother, Minamoto no Yoritomo. However, after the defeat of the Taira clan, Yoritomo grew wary of Yoshitsune's rising fame and perceived him as a potential threat, leading to a relentless pursuit of his younger brother.
During Yoshitsune’s escape, literature recount that he sought refuge on Mount Yoshino, where he is said to have washed his beloved horse under this very waterfall—a scene depicted in the current lot.
