Unusual and attractive, the present Rolex Submariner reference 5513 is from some of the last years of production and features a 'spider' dial. In certain lighting, the dial appears as standard but when viewed at certain angles, attractive hairline cracks as visible and create beautiful patterns, making every example unique. This effect happened in certain watches from this period as Rolex switched from matte dials to gloss dials. The then-new gloss dials had a superficial layer of lacquer in which they 'spiderwebbed' due a defect in and environmental factors. Over the years, during a Rolex service, they would replace these defected dials for a new ones, making them harder and harder to acquire today.
