This enigmatic portrait depicts a young lady elaborately dressed. She wears a tabbed doublet, the forepart of the skirt made of cloth of silver adorned with applied braids of gold strips, and an overgown featuring guitar sleeves. Varied attributions have been suggested for this portrait, among them Sofonisba Anguissola (1532-1625), Carlo Ceresa (1609-1670) and Lavinia Fontana (1552-1614).
