This postcard, sent home by Buddy Holly to his parents, dates from a very early period in Holly's short career. Holly left Lubbock High School in 1955 with the aim of pursuing a career in music and very quickly got signed to Decca Records in February 1956 by long time music producer and Decca executive, Paul Cohen. Holly attended three recording sessions with Decca in Nashville in January, July and November, 1956, with the sessions produced by Owen Bradley. This postcard would have been sent the night Buddy Holly arrived in Nashville for his second session with Bradley, recording 'That'll Be The Day' only three days later.
