A 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl Downbeat three-piece drum kit, comprising: the original 20 in. bass drum [with later replica Beatles logo drumhead by Russ Lease and period correct front hoop, T-rods and claws], 14 in. floor tom, and 12 in. rack tom, [the original snare drum not present], with period correct hardware and cymbals including a 20 in. Ajax cymbal, an 18 in. Zildjian A cymbal, a 14 in. Zildjian A hi-hat cymbal, and a Premier drum stool, the drums each with a later hard shell case stenciled Ringo ★ and with two later custom road cases stenciled RS / 1; the drum kit acquired by Ringo Starr in April 1963 from Drum City, London, and used by him extensively as his sole drum kit for all Beatles appearances and recordings from 12 May 1963 to 4 February 1964, the bass drum and rack tom additionally used by Paul McCartney to record his first solo album, McCartney, 1970; together with two Zildjian 5A drumsticks used by Ringo Starr while playing this drum kit at the Indianapolis Colts practice facility on 30 September 2023
