Reference 116588TBR, introduced in 2019 following the success of the celebrated Daytona 'Rainbow', is a striking and highly appealing example of Rolex’s gem-set Daytona creations. These outstanding timepieces, which are made for a discerning clientele, are a captivating combination of high jewelry and technical performance, fusing striking design with elegant execution.
At first glance, the present timepiece captivates with its extraordinary dial, evocative of a stylised tiger’s gaze. The two chronograph registers serve as the motif's 'eyes' thanks to Rolex's clever integration of its design language. Pavé-set diamonds add depth and brilliance to the overall design of the dial, which has a symmetrical composition of champagne and black lacquer.
Departing from the traditional Cerachrom bezel found on Oysterflex models, the present example is fitted with a bezel set with 36 invisibly mounted diamonds, meticulously aligned to create a seamless surface of light. The manufacturer's proficiency in high jewelry is highlighted by this invisible setting technique, which is among the most difficult in gem-setting and necessitates extraordinary precision in both cutting and mounting.
