The present Nautilus reference 3800⁄101 is a remarkable combination of high jewelry and watchmaking. The accompanying Certificate of Origin attests to the dial's remarkable brilliance, which is set with 115 diamonds totaling 0.63 carats and 22 rubies totaling 0.13 carats, also confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. The classic Nautilus design is enhanced by this gem-set dial while maintaining the model's renowned balance and elegance.

Reference 3800
Conceived as the mid-size equivalent of the original Nautilus reference 3700, reference 3800 was produced between 1981 and 2006 while faithfully maintaining its unique design language. With a diameter of 37.5 mm as opposed to the 42 mm case of the 3700, it provided a more sophisticated and adaptable wrist presence without sacrificing the distinctive Nautilus identity.

A central seconds hand was made possible by the Patek Philippe caliber 335 SC, which was introduced at the same time as reference 3800. The original version of this movement, which did not have a quick-set date function, was installed in early models such as on the present timepiece. A significant technological advancement during the reference's lengthy production history was made in 1987 when Patek Philippe released an upgraded movement with a quick-set date.
