In 1985, Cartier introduced a bold new direction with the launch of the Pasha, conceived as a larger, more direct wristwatch while preserving the maison’s signature elegance. To support this vision, Cartier collaborated with the renowned designer Gérald Genta, whose influence helped shape one of the most distinctive case designs of the late 20th century.

Genta, celebrated for iconic creations such as the Nautilus for Patek Philippe and the Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet, brought a unique perspective to the Pasha. The model is characterised by its round case, unusual within Cartier’s predominantly rectangular and oval designs, featuring a broad bezel, Vendôme lugs, and a distinctive screw-down crown cap with cabochon, secured by a small chain. These elements have remained integral to the identity of the Pasha throughout its evolution.

The present timepiece is a particularly attractive and opulent example, enhanced by a diamond-set bezel and a pavé diamond-set dial depicting the panther, one of Cartier’s most enduring emblems. The crown is further adorned with a diamond cabochon, reinforcing the watch’s luxurious character.
