PROP SINK FROM "THE HONEYMOONERS"
CBS Television, 1955-1956
A sink used as set dressing in the Kramden's sparse Brooklyn apartment in the ground-breaking television comedy starring Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney and Joyce Randolph. Seen in every episode as it was a main part of the set, this piece consists of a composite porcelain sink (painted white numerous times over and having standard hot/cold metal faucetts) which rests on two black metal legs; the whole unit affixed to a black wooden faux-wall-and-floor enclosure with wheels; back side of piece has notation reading Property of/W.47th Encore. Interestingly, Jackie Gleason's childhood home, located at 328 Chauncey Street in Brooklyn, New York, still survives and it served as the model for The Honeymooner's set.
