A SPANISH WAR HAT (CABACETE), IN LATE 15TH CENTURY STYLE
19th Century
Of one-piece construction with low medial ridge rising to a low triangular comb over the skull, broad down-turned brim with inwardly turned edge, the base of the skull applied with a brass band cut with a Latin inscription and in turn fitted with brass plume-holder and brass escutcheon engraved with a coat-of arms, and studded with brass lining rivets.
