Of rectangular form with coffered separate cover on four feet, the top painted with Fath 'Ali Shah hunting a lion on horseback, flanked by courtiers withn a landscape, in a black border of gold palmette vine meander, the coved sides with raised portrait medallions on a ground of gul-o bulbul designs, the interior fom the cover with various scenes of equestrian hunting, the centre plain, presumably originally with mirror, the sides of the box with further depictions of Fath 'Ali Shah and his courtiers hunting, the red spandrels of each panel with gold feathery vine, small areas or restoration, re-lacquered, very slight chips
