With rounded ends and sliding tray, the black top with a central cusped cartouche depicting a battle scene flanked by two cartouches depicting lovers, a simple gul-o bulbul design at each end, signed above Ja'far b. Najaf 'Ali and dated 1278, the sides with similar battle scenes, portrait ovals and floral designs, the black base and tray with stylised chinoiserie landscape, very slight craquelure of varnish
