Modelled after a European glass shape with large broad baluster body suspended on three chains attached to three birds, the chain passing through a recurved domes upper platter, the entire surface intricately worked with scrolling interlaced vine issuing palmettes around figural cartouches and roundels, between bands of similarly worked inscription cartouches and minor interlace bands, very slight damages
Base 12in. (32cm.) high

Lot Essay

The nasta'liq inscription reads: "commissioned by Khwaja Mac..... of Julfa, [13]16 (1898-9 AD), the work of Muhammad Hasan, the engraver in the workshop of Isfahan".
